Autumn 2019 Update
As a prelude to a much longer post on the magic of the year so-far, here’s an update on the studio making schedule and available works;
I’m incredibly grateful for the gentle flow of 2019 and the work I’ve been able to create with the support of my wonderful stockist The Future Kept; https://thefuturekept.com & there will be a stock update heading to them in mid November which features work inspired by The Selkie, so I recommend linking up directly via their newsletter and Instagram updates to see when these pieces are available for purchase.
I’ve also begun to stock works with the interiors & reclaimed-flooring company Ecora; https://www.ecora.co.uk & they have a set of floor rugs in the Driftwood shade palette with complimentary blankets, these can be viewed at their showroom in Belsize Park, North London. (These rugs are developed from the original Georgia O’Keeffe rug commissions for the RHS show garden ‘An Artist’s Studio’ by Jessica Makins.)
My private client commissions of woven artworks, rugs, blankets, wraps and wallhangings for their homes, have also been running in tandem, and as a result my looms are fully booked until spring 2020! It’s so wonderful to connect with people who have a vision for their spaces, and that I’m able to help in some way with the addition of my craft, it’s truly an honour.
So my way of working going forward has become much clearer; if there’s something you’d like to be made during 2020, please get in touch to book space on the loom schedule, and depending on my existing commitments, making times will be between 8-10 weeks from start to finish, as I’ll be spinning yarn to each unique project and that’s where the time is taken to get the wool blends right and the spin, which sets the tone for the entire work.
This is me really acknowledging the slower pace of creating things is a necessity and a joy, when the work just flows and all is well.
Also you can read the full chapter on my studio practice in the new (house brick sized!) publication Woven & Worn from Canopy Press; available from them direct here; https://shop.3dtotal.com/woven-and-worn
or via Waterstones; https://www.waterstones.com/book/woven-and-worn/canopy-press/patricia-mcdowell/9781909414914
Thank you for all the support and kindness,
With all love and best wishes,
Imogen
