Rainbow Blanket

Last week myself and the wonderful Tess Lari of Imagine Make Play went into Happy Days Nursery in Brighton to hold a weaving workshop with the pre-school class, and we had an amazing time!

Firstly we talked about where wool and yarn comes from, explored the wool basket and sang a song about a very famous black sheep; next we each had a mini-loom made from card and practiced the techniques of weaving; up & over / down & under.

After everyone had made their own mini-weaving, it was time to weave a blanket together on the BIG loom! The children were very good at team work and learnt the techniques of weaving very quickly, and by the end of the day we had a finished blanket for the story-corner.

Here are some pictures!

Best wishes, Imogen & Tess
